Hello Colorado Girl(?):

You can post them here. Are you familiar with NTN? If not, depending on where you live in Colorado (if that is correct), there are a number of places that offer the game in that state.

Are you creating a Jeopardy-like game or just a general trivia game for your work place? Is there a special event that you're creating this game for or is it an on-going thing?

Take care, Don

I'll let someone else take a crack at these. This group of questions is harder ;-) I don't know numbers three and four but have a good idea on the others.

Take care, Don

I would have to disagree with Don on the language. Chinese has far and away the greatest number of speakers, but they are pretty much confined to a small handfull of countries. I would have to guess, in order of preference, Arabic, Spanish, or French.

The Joad family travelled via Route 66.

I believe the best seller barrier is 50 thousand (at least according to NTN).

And the airport scans the retina.

Not sure about the others.

HTH,

Foose

Dennis might be a good guess but I picture him older than that -- probably because of the old TV series with Jay North(?).

Yes, David is right about the Route 66. After I posted Chinese, I had the same reservation that David mentioned -- lots of people but only a handful of countries (only about five come to mind).

I would have guessed 100k for the books but I have no reason to doubt David's 50k -- especially if it is an NTN answer

I thought double platinum would require 200k but I can't give any answers without five choices to choose from

It wasn't that I won't answer anymore of your questions; I just wanted to give some of the others a chance! I think I was the first one to see your post so I had an advantage. There are plenty of smart people on here who can answer most any question you can ask. If you don't get an answer here, search Google.

Take care and good luck!

Don

Edited to add:
According to Info Please (http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0855611.html)
Chinese doesn't come close. It is hard to tell which language is second without literally counting them but French or Spanish seem like the best choices.

Of course, as David said, the part of the eye used for identification is the retina.

Platinum designation varies depending on the country or territory.

From: http://encyclopedia.thefreedictionary.com/Platinum%20record

In the USA, gold (and platinum etc) album awards have been certified by the Recording Industry Association of America

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) is a trade group representing the US recording industry, and the body responsible for certifying gold and platinum albums and singles in the USA.

For more information about sales data see List of best selling albums and list of best selling singles. The RIAA was formed in 1952 to administer the RIAA equalization curve, applied to vinyl records during cutting and playback.

* Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certification for sales of 500,000 album units is a Gold album.

* RIAA certification for shipment of 1 million units is a Platinum album.

* RIAA certification for net shipment of 10 million units is a Diamond album.

* Certification for new shipment of 100,000 units is an Oro album.

* Certification of 200,000 units is a Platino album.

* Certification of 400,000 units is a Multi-Platino album.

The answer to the Q4U question is in the name.

Here's a description from:

http://www.ac-nantes.fr/peda/disc/lv/anglais/lexique/archtest.htm

Q4U Happy to Play the Waiting Game for You

The British have always been renowned for their stoic readiness to queue. Not anymore.

For 20 pounds ($28.84) an hour, they can now hire someone from London company Q4U to stand in line for them.

The company got the idea after television presenter John Fashanu, a former footballer, paid a tramp 300 pounds to queue for applications to buy a 1 million pound apartment.

The agency already has about 80 queuers on their books who are aged from 20 to 50.

"It's a job that doesn't require a lot of skill or experience. All you need is plenty of patience," company spokesman Patrick Young told Friday's Daily Telegraph newspaper."
